Disordered Eating Consultation

Provides education and consultation to healthcare providers, educators, and the public about treating eating disorders. Helps people to find the service that offers treatment for their eating disorder.

 

Workshops, inservices and public lectures can be provided.

Calgary Eating Disorder Program - Outpatient Treatment

Alternate names:(Previous names: Eating Disorder Community Treatment Program, Pediatric Eating Disorder Program)

 

Provides outpatient treatment for people with eating disorders including:

  • assessment
  • one-to-one therapy
  • family therapy
  • follow-up
  • referrals to healthcare providers if needed 

Early onset services are provided for children younger than 14 and their families.

 

Accessing the service - more information:

A Physician referral is required to access the Calgary Eating Disorder Program. Following an initial assessment, access to subsequent treatment services is determined in partnership with the patients multi-disciplinary care team. 

Calgary Eating Disorder Program - Inpatient Program

Alternate names:(Previous names: Eating Disorder Community Treatment Program)

 

Provides inpatient beds for people with eating disorders who need to be admitted to the hospital.

 

Accessing the service - more information:

A Physician referral is required to access the Calgary Eating Disorder Program. Following an initial assessment, access to subsequent treatment services is determined in partnership with the patients multi-disciplinary care team.

 

Calgary Eating Disorder Program - Day Treatment

Offers intense day treatment for people with severe eating disorders:

  • assessment
  • group therapy
  • one-to-one therapy
  • family therapy
  • school resources for students
  • 3 meals and 2 snacks per day 

Most people are in the program for about 3 months. There are residential support home placements for evenings and weekends for people who need it or for people who don’t live in Calgary.

University of Alberta Hospital Eating Disorder Program

Offers services and support for people who have anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, including:

  • supervision during and after meals
  • one-to-one and group therapy
  • nursing and psychiatric care
  • help with nutrition
  • schooling for teen clients
  • family support and therapy 

This service helps people who are in the hospital, getting ready to leave the hospital, or living in the community. Clients in the hospital receive 24/7 care and clients living in the community can access treatment 24/7.

 

Available to

For people 13 years or older who have dangerous eating disorder symptoms and need a high level of treatment.
