Vulnerable Road Users - Off Highway Vehicles

(Communications Resource Toolkit, Saferoads)

Key Messages:

  • Protect yourself. Wear protective gear including an approved helmet.
  • Doubling up on a single seated off-highway vehicle impairs your riding and is dangerous.
  • There are rules by which to play that could save you dollars, or could save your life:
    • Stay off the road.
    • Pay attention.
    • Be aware of other persons.
    • Drinking and riding doesn’t mix.
    • If you have a collision, deal with it responsibly and report it immediately.
    • Get registered and insured, as required by law.
    • Be prepared for seasonal off-road conditions.
